TO TODAY THE CLIMBING AT THE TOP AT STROMBOLI IS FORBIDDEN UNTIL THE DATE TO BE INTENDED FOR SAFETY REASONS.

However it is possible to make a very beautiful and interesting trekking path to be able to still admire the Stromboli explosions from San Vincenzo to the Sciara del Fuoco to reach a height of 290 meters.

Duration: 3 hours - difficulty: easy

Although not immediately obvious from the sea, Stromboli has a rich maquis, with beautiful specimens of holm oak. A walk start from the San Vincenzo church, in the middle of the village, and leads to the old cemetery (early 20th century), whose graves are decorated by majolica tiles. Continuing through the lavas of San Bartolo, formed during an eruption in the Roman age, we cross the deep valley of Vallonazzo, which separates the volcanites of Vancori from those belonging to Neo-Stromboli (13,000-5,000 years ago), and arrive to the Sciara del Fuoco. That is the amazing place where the pyroclasts produced by the explosive activity of the volcano fall on the sea. Then, the walk is merged in the large canebrake and finally return to the village.
