Duration: 4 h - Difficulty: medium-low

The last major eruption of Monte Pelato, 1400 years ago, it has scattered thick layers of pumice over most of the island, culminating in the formation of a casting of rhyolitic obsidian (le Rocche Rosse) which extends in the direction of North-East and It ends on the sea in Punta Castagna. Climbing along this one, the trail gives the excitement of being in front of a unique landscape, which hugs the coast of Acquacalda, the pumice quarries (closed in 2007) and the thick bush settled within the crater depression (Fossa Castagna) , interrupted occasionally by vineyards and cultivated fields. Continue through the hilltop village of Lami and along a stone road, descending to the beach of Canneto.
